Banque Misr builds and participates in the opening of the Psychiatric Center - Ain Shams University Hospitals

Today, Dr. Mahmoud El-Matini, President of Ain Shams University, inaugurated the Prof. Ahmed Okasha Psychiatric Center - Ain Shams University Hospitals after its renovation. The opening was attended by Prof. Dr. Ahmed Okasha - founder of the Psychiatric Center, and Mr. Mohamed El-Etreby - Chairman of the Board of Directors of Banque Misr and President of the Union of Arab Banks, Prof. Dr. Mohamed Awad Taj El-Din - Former Minister of Health, Prof. Dr. Ashraf Omar - Former Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Ain Shams University, Prof. Dr. Osama Mansour - Acting Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Ain Shams University, Prof. Dr. Ali Al-Anwar - Executive Director of Ain Shams University Hospitals, Prof. Dr. Tarek Okasha - Professor of Psychiatry, Eng. Omar Hussein Sabbour - CEO of Eng. Hussein Sabbour's office and a distinguished group of bank and university leaders.

This is in line with the pioneering role played by Banque Misr in cooperation with the Psychiatric Center of Ain Shams University Hospitals and the Ain Shams Medical Association, by providing full support for the renewal and replacement of the Psychiatric Center. The bank supported the center with an amount of 30 million pounds. This comes from Banque Misr’s keenness to support all projects related to the health service sector, and the bank’s belief in the importance of providing adequate health care for mental patient, especially, that mental illness is no less important than physical illness. Because of these beliefs, the bank wishes to develop and raise the efficiency of the medical service provided to psychiatric patients in a manner that is commensurate with the standards of medical quality, in order to increase the absorptive capacity of the center and to develop the services provided to patients.

With this, Banque Misr continues its pioneering role in the field of social responsibility, as it is one of the most important purposes in which they believe, and because of their belief that health is one of the most important factors to base their support to society upon, directly or indirectly, through its non-profit organization, “Misr Bank Foundation for Community Development”. This is reputed Under No. 7045/2007 and its aim is to develop and provide assistance to the Egyptian community by participating in many activities and initiatives of a social nature and working to achieve the best for the community in general in several areas such as health, education, social solidarity and community development such as projects for the development of Egyptian villages most in need and small and micro projects, and to contribute to creating job opportunities for youth and female breadwinners, developing slums, and everything related to human development.

It is worth noting that Banque Misr spent about 1.5 billion pounds in donations in the field of community development during the period between July 2020 and December 2021, and Banque Misr has recently won several international awards in the field of social responsibility, including: The Best Bank in Social Responsibility - Egypt 2022 award from The Global Economics Magazine, Global Business Magazine, British The European Magazine, and International Finance Magazine, as well as the Global Business Outlook Magazine.
