Banque Misr sponsors the 44th Cairo International Film Festival, scheduled for November 13-22, 2022 at Cairo Opera House. CIFF will be attended by a group of artists, jury members and public figures from various activities from around the world. Some artists and public figures will be honored during the festival's activities.
Banque Misr’s sponsorship for CIFF is part of the bank’s strategy to sponsor important cultural and artistic events, as the Cairo International Film Festival is one of the oldest and most regular festivals in the Arab world and Africa. CIFF is unique in being the oldest internationally accredited festival in the Arab world, Africa and the Middle East and registered within Category A by the International Federation of Film Producers Associations, among 14 international festivals.
It is worth noting that Banque Misr participated in opening ceremony of Talaat Harb Theater at Faculty of Specific Education at Ain Shams University in June 2022, in light of the pioneering role played by the Bank in cooperation with Ain Shams University to provide support for the University's scientific and cultural fields. Banque Misr supported, within framework of this support, the university theater to renew and develop Talaat Harb Theater with the latest sound technologies at the highest-level that is suitable to the history of Theater and Ain Shams University. Further, the Bank also sponsored the Eldome television program, which is interested in searching for talented Egyptian singers, actors, and television program presenters in March 2022. Also, the Bank sponsored activities of “Nights of Spiritual Shrines” in Ramadan 2022, as well as the “9th International Festival of Drums and Traditional Arts” in May 2022, and the “International Peace Message” bands, the “Sama’a Religious Chanting” band and “Sama’a School” to search for talents. Further, the Bank sponsored the “15th Sama’a International Festival of Chanting and Spiritual Music”, and the “Here we Pray Together” Interfaith Forum in its eighth edition in September 2022.
Banque Misr’s sponsorship for the festival continues the bank’s successes in supporting culture and arts as a guide to progress of nations as it is one of the basics and priorities of life. The national economist, Mohamed Talaat Harb Pasha, believed in importance of supporting culture and the arts. Therefore, the Bank established Studio Misr, which was opened in 1935 to contribute to support and advancement of cinema in Egypt, as he believed that renewal of the economy in Egypt would not take place unless culture flourished and minds were enlightened with new ideas and high culture.
Banque Misr always seeks to be a role model for all operating institutions and a role model in supporting Egyptian society and economy by various available means in all fields. The Bank is always keen to encourage partnerships between the different sectors of Egyptian society, governmental, civil and private, by providing a successful model in the community that will later be generalized at all levels and sectors. This is for actual and real contribution to development and renaissance of the Egyptian society, as the values and strategies of the Bank's work in Egypt always reflect its commitment to sustainable development and prosperity of Egypt.
