El-Kabbaj and El-Etreby sign a cooperation protocol between the Fund to Support Civil Associations and Institutions and Banque Misr’s Projects and on promoting electronic payment and financial inclusion for civil society organizations

-The protocol aims to support the cashless transformation and complete all banking transactions related to the Fund to Support the Projects of Associations and Civil Work Organisations with ease. It will contribute to enhancing transparency and governance

 

Mrs. Nevin El-Kabbaj, Minister of Social Solidarity, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Fund to Support the Projects of Civil Associations and Institutions, and Mr. Mohamed El-Etreby, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Banque Misr, signed a cooperation protocol between the Fund and the Bank regarding the mechanisation of the proceeds and payments of beneficiaries from the Fund to support projects of Civil Associations and Institutions, with considering the issuance of smart cards “Meeza” for all of them.

 

The Fund to Support the Projects of Civil Associations and Institutions achieves national priorities for sustainable development. It also supports the state's approach towards a cashless society, supports digital transformation and financial inclusion for civil society organisations, and strives to provide mechanisms for disbursement and collection through electronic mechanisms.

 

The protocol  signing ceremony was witnessed by Mr. Ayman Abdel Mawgoud, Assistant to the Minister of Social Solidarity for Civil Labour Affairs, Dr. Talaat Abdel Qawi, President of the Federation of NGOs and Institutions, and Dr. Ahmed Saada, Executive Director of the Fund to Support the Projects of Civil Associations and Institutions and Banking Leaders at Banque Misr, Mr. Shehab Zeidan, Head of Banking Products Sector for Companies and Financial Institutions and Mr. Amr El-Demerdash, Head of the Small and Medium Enterprises Sector, and Dr. Suzan Hamdi, Head of the Financial Inclusion Sector.

 

The Minister of Social Solidarity praised the important role played by Banque Misr at the banking and development level, stressing that the ministry, in the current stage, aims to achieve financial inclusion for the civil society, as the cooperation protocol comes within the framework of supporting the state’s orientation towards digital transformation and seeking to provide mechanisms for electronic exchange and collection, and This protocol also supports the role of the Fund for Supporting Projects of Civil Associations and Institutions, which is considered the national entity for development projects, noting that the coming period will witness more work towards building an investment base to increase its resources.

 

For his part, Mohamed El-Etreby, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Banque Misr, confirmed that the signing of the protocol came within the framework of Banque Misr’s adoption of the concept of digital transformation and innovation, as Banque Misr seeks to localise advanced technological services in its various dealings with the aim of facilitating the payment process for the Egyptian citizen in line with the state’s policies to transform into a cashless society. By working to stimulate electronic means and channels of payment instead of using cash.

 

The two parties agreed to automate the payments and proceeds of the Fund to Support the Projects of Civil Associations and Institutions to support the cashless transformation of society and to complete all banking transactions with ease, especially in light of individuals’ preference for social distancing and the use of electronic services as a safe alternative in light of the current circumstances of the Corona virus, which contributes to achieving The objectives of financial inclusion as one of the national goals of the state and in line with the policies of the National Council for Electronic Payments.
