Based on the principle of equal educational opportunities for students, the Central Bank of Egypt, in cooperation with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, has launched the National Initiative to Support Distinguished Students in Egyptian Universities (the Future Scholars Scholarship) to provide equal university education opportunities in nationally priority disciplines, and to support outstanding students to complete their university studies within the framework of justice and equal opportunities. The scholarship provides integrated support that includes tuition fees, accommodation, and subsistence throughout the years of study (provided that the scholarship requirements are sustainable), providing students with an environment A stable education that helps them focus on academic achievement and build a successful career, away from any financial burdens that may hinder their academic path.
The scholarship targets outstanding Egyptian students who are graduates of the government high school or graduates of the STEM system from a public school for the same academic year, with a focus on the most needy groups across the country, including beneficiaries of the Takaful and Karama program, students exempt from tuition fees, people of determination, in addition to students from the governorates of Upper Egypt and the border governorates, reflecting the initiative's keenness to achieve educational justice and reduce development gaps between regions.
The scholarship is based on clear criteria that ensure transparency and seriousness in the selection of beneficiaries, as the student is required to be an Egyptian national and a graduate of public schools, and to achieve academic excellence that qualifies him to join the colleges covered by the scholarship, while adhering to good conduct and behavior, and not being subjected to any disciplinary sanctions or previous academic dismissal, and not having received another scholarship in parallel, in addition to submitting the required documents and signing official declarations, while emphasizing that any inaccurate information may lead to the cancellation of the scholarship.
The scholarship includes vital disciplines that represent the country's priorities such as computers and artificial intelligence, engineering, medicine, applied arts, veterinary medicine, nursing, tourism and hotels, archaeology, agriculture, arts and design, to ensure that education outcomes are aligned with the needs of the labor market and national development plans. In some cases, in-person or electronic interviews may be conducted for the candidates, to ensure that the most deserving students are selected according to the specified criteria.
The first round of the initiative was made available by applying electronically through the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research platform during the period from 9 to 14 September 2025, and the names of the candidates for the scholarship were announced on September 18, and the continuation of the scholarship is conditional on academic excellence throughout the study period and commitment to the study program to ensure the continuity of support and achieve the goals of the initiative.
