Banque Misr signs a cooperation protocol with Cathedral in Abbasiya to provide electronic payment and collection services

Within the framework of Banque Misr's keenness as a leading banking institution to provide services commensurate with the needs of citizens, Banque Misr signed a cooperation protocol with St. Mark's Cathedral in Abbasiya to provide electronic payment and collection services on the official website of the Coptic OrthodoxChurch on Monday, October 30, 2023, and the signing took place in the presence of His Holiness Pope Tawadros II - Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of the See of St. Mark and Mr. Mohamed El-Etreby, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Banque Misr. The cooperation protocol was signed by Mr. Akef El-MaghrabyVice Chairman of Banque Misr with Father Sergius Sergius - Undersecretary General of the Coptic Orthodox Patriarchate, in the presence of a distinguished group of the bank's leaders and St. Mark's Cathedral.

 

Under this protocol, the bank allows the acceptance of all types of electronic payments for bank cards and electronic wallets on the website of the Coptic Orthodox Church by linking to the electronic platform to automate the services provided by the cathedral to citizens.

 

The signing of the protocol comes as a continuation of Banque Misr's successes in the field of electronic payments and supporting digital transformation by providing the latest electronic solutions and applications for payment management for government agencies and various service sectors, and within the framework of the bank's strategy towards leading the future of digital payments, as Banque Misr strives to localize advanced technological services in its various dealings to ensure keeping pace with global development, as technological services are necessary for the continuation of the bank's leadership in the Egyptian banking market, and the introduction of elements of digital transformation in the system Banking will further contribute to improving the provision of banking and financial services, and benefiting from the promising new paths of economic and financial development, with the aim of supporting growth and enabling more segments of society to obtain appropriate financial solutions in support of financial inclusion efforts.

Banque Misr achieved outstanding growth rates during 2022 amounting to 91% of the total electronic payment acceptance portfolio
(points of sale by 79%, websites by 100%, QR code by 146%), where the number of points of sale increased to 440 thousand points of sale, more than 2000 websites and mobile applications, 1.5
million electronic wallets, and more than 2 million QR code transactions.
