Banque Misr has signed a cooperation protocol with the Ministry of Higher Education to donate approximately 81.1 million pounds. The donation will support Zagazig University Hospitals, Benha University Hospital, Menoufia University Hospital, Mansoura University Hospital, and Assiut University Hospital. This initiative aims to provide university hospitals with the necessary medical equipment to enhance and improve the quality of medical and therapeutic services. The protocol was signed by His Excellency Prof. Dr. Mohamed Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and Chairman of the Supreme Council of University Hospitals, along with Mr. Mohamed El-Etreby, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Banque Misr, on Tuesday, August 27, 2024. The signing ceremony was attended by the university president, Dr. Fatima El-Gouli, Head of the Corporate Communications Sector at Banque Misr, and a distinguished group of leaders from the Ministry and the bank.
During the joint cooperation protocol signing ceremony, the Minister of Higher Education emphasized the importance of university hospitals in providing healthcare to all segments of Egyptian society. The Minister expressed the Ministry's commitment to continuously improve the quality of medical services, develop the infrastructure of university hospitals, implement expansions, increase capacity, and provide the hospitals with the latest medical equipment and supplies to meet international medical standards.
The Minister emphasized the importance of maximizing the role of university hospitals in implementing the principles of effective participation and integration within the National Strategy for Higher Education and Scientific Research.
Dr. Ayman Ashour explained that supporting these hospitals is part of activating the "Alliance and Development" initiative. The goal is to improve the efficiency of health services provided to the citizens of these governorates and the associated centers, villages, and hamlets. This aligns with the directives of the political leadership to enhance the efficiency of regional university hospitals and integrate them into the comprehensive health insurance system. These hospitals are crucial in providing healthcare and medical services to a broad spectrum of patients.
The Minister praised Banque Misr for supporting the education and health sectors. The partnership with the prestigious Banque Misr Foundation is helping to realize the Ministry of Higher Education's vision of connecting the current and future needs of the seven geographical regions. This will ensure that the infrastructure and medical equipment in university hospitals in those regions meet the needs of citizens, considering the population increase.
Mr. Mohamed El-Etreby, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Banque Misr, commended the vital role university hospitals play in providing quality healthcare for all Egyptians. He emphasized Banque Misr's commitment to supporting exceptional medical institutions as part of its social responsibility efforts to promote sustainable development.
