Banque Misr Celebrates 20 Women on the Occasion of International Women’s Day

Mr. Mohamed El-Etreby – Chairman of the Board of Banque Misr – partook in a celebration held by Businesswomen of Egypt 21 on Sunday, 14th March 2021, within the framework of the Bank’s participation in financial inclusion events (International Women’s Day – Arab Financial Inclusion Day), extending from 8th March – 29th April 2021. The event witnessed the celebration of 20 successful women, who are considered among the most influential in various fields and who were rewarded financially through Banque Misr’s pre-paid Meeza cards. The list of 20 outstanding women included female breadwinners, workers, women of determination and entrepreneurs engaged in industrial, vocational, textile, food and media endeavors. The function was attended by Her Excellency Ambassador Nabila Makram – Ministry of Immigration and Egyptian Expatriate Affairs, Dr. Nevin Gamea – Minister of Trade and Industry, Mr. Akef El-Maghraby – Vice Chairman of the Board of Banque Misr and Dr. Suzan Hamdy – Head of Financial Inclusion and Business Development at Banque Misr. It was also attended by select representatives of global organizations, economic institutions and media outlets.

Businesswomen of Egypt 21 is a civil society institutions seeking to enhance the participation of women in economic development, by optimizing the productivity of businesswomen and adopting sustainable programs. The association – through its activities – strives to achieve the continuous development and growth of women in all facets.

Banque Misr had supported start-ups run by members of the association, with the list of celebrated women including the first female auto mechanic in the governorate of Daqahliya, a social leader who champions efforts towards youth employment, a rural entrepreneur and owner of a project for recycling cloth remnants and a communal leader involved in developing people of determination and special-needs.

Mr. Mohamed El-Etreby – Chairman of the Board of Banque Misr – congratulated all women aiming to develop themselves, their households and communities; emphasizing the importance of the role of women in society and pointing out their leading positions at Banque Misr, which they undertake with great ability and proficiency. He also expressed Banque Misr’s continued interest in endorsing initiatives, functions and activities pertaining to commending women and appreciating their influential social duties, owing to the Bank’s firm belief in supporting women and empowering them to claim their rights and participate in the decision-making process.
