In line with its pioneering role in sustainable development, Banque Misr has been awarded the prestigious Golden Certificate for the evaluation of the Egyptian Green Pyramid for Green Buildings. This recognition, achieved in collaboration with the National Center for Housing and Building Research, focuses on the bank's branch at the Faculty of Commerce, Ain Shams University. Mr. Mohamed El-Etreby, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Banque Misr, received the Golden Certificate from Dr. Mohamed Massoud, Chairman of the National Council for Housing and Building Research. The ceremony was graced by the presence of Mr. Hossam Abdel Wahab, Vice Chairman of Banque Misr, Mr. Eng. Ehab Maher – Head of Engineering and Real Estate Affairs Sector at Banque Misr, and distinguished leaders from both the bank and the Council.A significant highlight of the event was the signing of a cooperation protocol between Banque Misr and the National Center, representing the Egyptian Council for Green Building and Sustainable Cities. This collaboration aims to promote and disseminate green building certificates. Additionally, the initiative encompasses the rehabilitation of Banque Misr's buildings and branches, transforming them into sustainable green buildings.The Green Pyramid certificate offers four levels of evaluation: principled, silver, bronze, and gold. The branch was assessed based on seven fundamental criteria, including sustainable location, energy and water efficiency, building materials, indoor environmental quality, sustainable management, and innovation.This certification underscores Banque Misr's unwavering commitment to social responsibility, emphasizing environmental preservation and support for sustainable development practices. Achieving this unique certificate reflects the bank's adoption of eco-friendly practices aimed at mitigating environmental impact and creating a healthy environment for employees and customers alike.The branch at the Faculty of Commerce, Ain Shams University, serves as a model for green buildings, incorporating resource-saving technology. The Engineering and Real Estate Affairs Sector at Banque Misr implemented cutting-edge technology, including wall and ceiling insulation, LED lighting, and electrical-saving lighting sensors. Notably, a solar power station has been installed, reducing the building's consumption by 30%. Water sensors were incorporated for consumption rationalization, and most finishing materials are free of volatile organic compounds, enhancing the internal environment and minimizing carbon emissions. The building is managed sustainably, adhering to the highest standards of environmental stewardship.
