Banque Misr Foundation for Community Development supported the Heliopolis Association's initiative to establish the first Science Center in the Middle East dedicated to children
On the basis of the
educational and developmental role of civil society institutions in advancing
development, Banque Misr Foundation for Community Development supported the
Heliopolis Association's initiative to establish the first Science Center in
the Middle East dedicated to children, at the Children's Museum of Civilization
and Creativity in Heliopolis.
The Science Center
is considered a new platform for knowledge, that is friendly to the environment
as well as to the differently abled children. It is a great new addition to the
Children's Museum of Civilization and Creativity, as it contributes through its
interactive exhibits to children's transition from the sciences and knowledge
of the past to the sciences and technologies that we live in now... and our
dreams for the future.... With simple practical and interactive methods with
hands-on through the use of various sciences to create environmental awareness
with a view to advance society towards development and create a sustainable
environment free from pollution and damage.
The Science Center
was financed out of concern from Banque Misr Foundation for Community
Development to develop community thinking and upgrading all segments of
society, especially youth and children.
It is worth noting
that the Science Center is divided into the external exhibit, which is the
solar system and the unit for producing electricity from solar energy, in
addition to a number of 5 halls that take us to an imaginary journey that
exceeds an hour, during which children and adults get to know Mars with a
detailed explanation about the history of space exploration and what happens to
our bodies in space and to get
acquainted with the scientists and experiences behind these achievements, the
solar system and renewable energy, and that there is no planet in the universe
that can bear humanity except the Earth, which requires preserving it and
working to mitigate the effects of climate changes and sustainability in
exploiting its resources to preserve this planet for future generations.
The Science Center was inaugurated on Thursday,
13th of October,2022, in the presence of Mr. Dr. Ali Fahmy Al-Saidi,
Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Banque Misr Foundation for Community
Development, Mr. Hossam Abdel Wahhab, Vice Chairman of Banque Misr, and Dr.
Nabil Helmy, Chairman of the Heliopolis Association in addition to a group of
members of the Board of Directors of Banque Misr, Banque Misr Foundation for
Community Development, and the Board of Directors of Heliopolis Association, in
addition to some foreign cultural centers in Cairo and leaders of cultural and
scientific work.
The opening ceremony included a tour inside the
Science Center to get acquainted with its sections and content, in addition to
the creative playing and singing of the Orchestra of Light and Hope.
